I've always been somewhat of a pushover. I don't like confrontation and I shy away from saying things that cause negative feelings. I realize this is a weakness and I am trying to work on it. In my life I have a great example of someone who says exactly what they think no matter the consequences. That special someone is my Katie-bug.
Katie is the one on the left, she's very small and compact
She and I were talking about getting married. (naturally, a normal conversation to have with a 4 year old).Katie: Nanny, can I see your wedding ring?
Me: Sure (holding out my hand)
Katie: (after deliberating for moment) Nanny, you have witchy fingers.
Me: Um thank you?
I don't know exactly what "witchy fingers" are but, if you want to see them, check out these babies.
Here's a different conversation.
Me: (giving Katie a hug) How come I love you so much Katie?
Katie:(giving the question deep thought) Because I have sparkly eyes and I'm cute.
Me: You are exactly right!
Ahh yes, dear dear blunt and brutally honest Katie. How can I become more like you and say exactly what I think? Who knows, but in the mean time, I think I'll try not to take your comments too personally. How I love my Katie-bug.

I love this. What a cute little sass. And, she does have a cute face and sparkly eyes . . . but you do too. :)
I love this whole thing! So very funny!
Oh that Lady Katie cracks me up! Where does she come up with this stuff? Ha ha ha!
ha ha ha ha ha ha! That's awesome! And you definitely have sparkly eyes! Eyes that I don't get to see often enough!
at least your hair doesn't smell like dirty socks!
This made me laugh out loud!!! Sounds like she is at a fun age and full of SPUNK!! Oh, and I love your "non-sparkly eyes, crooked teef, and witchy hands!"
Oh my goodness Katie-bug. Good thing all of us aren't dependent on her for our self esteem. I like your "crooked?" teef and witchy fingers.
I shared this story with a group of friends yesterday and everyone laughed so very hard. I think I even made a few new friends, so . . . thanks.
Ha Ha! I love that! I can't wait till my niece and nephew can talk well enough to tell me what's "wrong" with me. I love reading your blogs, Natalie, they always crack me up!
Oh, Katie! What a cutie. It's a good thing that 2-5 year olds can get away with being brutally honest, but I will admit that I have a hard time when adults lack tact...some things are best left unsaid!
I wish I had your long, pretty fingers so I could play the piano as well as you...well, um, that really wouldn't help, I'm just not very coordinated :)
Once again I am laughing my head off and wondering where you came from?! You should honestly be a twin. I mean, you deserve someone who can laugh until they cry with you because you are truly the coolest, but I guess Jayge can appreciate you and your awesome whit. Props to you. And your witchy fingers...
Can you imagine if you really did start talking to adults this way? Looking at people on the train and mention their physicalities that you don't find so attractive? Ah, I would love it! But also I'd be really sad if the person was me. How come kids and old people can get away with anything?? So funny!
Oh if that isn't priceless then I don't know what is! The honesty of kids. GOTTA LOVE IT! P.S. You don't have witch fingers!
Hey Natalie it's me your friend from work. So I said I'd do this like forever ago but I'm kind of a dork and only blog in spurts. I get addicted to it and thats all I do for days but then I won't touch it for like three months. Anyway, I think your hilarious! Let's be blogger friends:)
